St Mary’s is the parish church of Fittleworth and is situated at the northern end of the village. The building, which is well looked after, dates back to at least 1200 and is Grade 1 listed.

Revd Dr David Crook has been Priest-in-Charge of the Benefice of Stopham and Fittleworth since May 2019 and, more recently, has added the parishes of Tillington, Duncton and Upwaltham. With the help of Tillington’s Lay Reader, Annie Sneller, and a retired priest, Revd Canon John Bundock, each church and village has regular Sunday services.

We have services (almost) every Sunday:

  • 9.30am Parish Communion on the first, third and fourth and fifth Sundays, with traditional hymns, especially when we have an organist on the first and third Sundays. We introduce the occasional more modern worship song on fourth Sundays, when we sing along to recorded music.
  • A quiet, said Book of Common Prayer Holy Communion service on the second Sunday of the month at 8am, followed by a lay-led, All-age, non-eucharistic service at 10.15am, preceded by a simple breakfast from 9.45am.
  • On fifth Sundays we usually have one service only in our group of five churches. To know what is happening, week by week, please join David’s mailing list to receive a weekly email.

David would love to meet you at any of our services or events.

David Crook, Priest-in-Charge
